Hi, My name is Joe. I am new to this Forum. This is my first post. I have a 2001 Dodge Dually 5 speed, manual transmission. Basically stock except for air filter and 4" exhaust. Engine is surging at 9 mph, as soon as you go over 9 mph, it idles up about 150 RPM's. It will do this in gear or in neutral coasting. As soon as you turn on the A/C it will stop surging and idle normal. I have taken it to the Dodge dealership twice and they can't find any codes. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful.

Welcome to the forum...

Second off lets cover a few diagnostics first...

ODB II error codes...
http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/2002-dodge/tips-and-tricks/error-codes/error_codes.htm

Fuel pump diagnostics...
http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/2002-dodge/tips-and-tricks/lift-pump/lift pump.htm

What is your fuel pressure??? (MIN REQUIRED IS 10 PSI!!!)

Now do remember it normal for a VP44 to idle highier while rolling but when you come to a stop it will fall again (about 150-200 RPM's). Remember the PCM/ECM control the idle and the A/C...

Being there is so little information as of yet... There could be several things...

Thanks mopar1973 man, I replaced injection pump and I could not remember if it always did that or not. I left out the part about riding the brake and controlling speed at 9mph it will surge up an down about 150 rpm. I guess this is normal ? Thank you
Also just bought my first can of 2 stroke oil , your reserch makes sense
