My friend has an 03 Duramax and it has a starting problem. When the truck is cold it will start right up, but after the engine is at running temp it will take along time to start. It cranks but wont start for up to 30 sec of cranking. My other buddy works at a chevy dealer and he put 8 new glow plugs and a glow plug control module (not sure why, cause it starts when its cold, but ok), still the same problem. It has a new fuel filter and it runs fine once it starts. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Once its warm, does it blow smoke when started?

Does he has any other issues with the truck, as far as how it runs?

The truck does not have any other running issues. Thats the weird part. It runs perfect when its running. It doesnt smoke when it does finally start so I do think its something with the fuel system. Its not getting fuel right away i think. Is there a lift pump or anything on duramaxes? Maybe its something like that.

That primer button on the fuel filter housing is soft for about 15 pumps then it gets hard when it does this. Hope that helps
