New Guy. does anyone else have this problem? When I tow my fan stays on almost constantly. I have a large toyhauler but this just seems wrong. It happens even on flat ground. Sometimes it stays on for 5 minutes or more. On the hills it stays on the whole time. it happens sometimes even solo around town. I live near Phoenix, and it gets hot, but still. Is there something wrong with my truck?

LBZ motor or LLY? If you are not sure look at your VIN the 8th digit will be a D for LBZ or a 2 for LLY motor.

Are you stock???? If you are running certain programmers who dont properly adjust timing or just dump in more fuel to get hp then taht coudl be hurting you. Does your temp guage move (say get up to 210) then back down to say 190 when the fan is running et c etc, more info the better to help you. Some popele report also these factory guages arent the msot accurate.

GM sure did confuse people with that decision.

I have had conversations with a few LBZ owners that have fan complaints. They are noisy, like the LLY, and I believe that is because of the cramped quarters.

Underdog, the perception of "always on" is a real problem that is a partial leftover from the early LLY. They solved part of the problem on the road to penny pinching a solution. When the fan kicks on, this activity creates more heat (in the CAC) for the fan to chew on. It is a feedback cycle. Fan ops insure continued fan ops, via increased IAT, and eventual heat soak CAC. Not as bad as earlier models, but you just happen to be in the place that exploits this problem the most. We should get together, I will show you a permanent passive solution.

My fan even comes on when I just start up in the morning when using the 45 HP Tow Mode of my Diablo Predator, with the other settings it doesn't come on until needed, mostly on long hills.
