Is that for the 99 or the 02? I see fuel pressure gauge in your sig for the 99, but no chip for it. If you're dropping down to 30 on stock programming, then that's a pretty significant loss of pressure. Stock fuel pumps lose a slight bit of pressure with stock tuning at WOT, and a bit more with a chip, but yours is a little worse than normal.
Ideally you should not see a drop at WOT or very little. You might want to check your tank for crap on the bottom that could be restricting flow, or could just be your pump is dying. I can hold 60 psi at WOT with the mods in my signature, stock pump :smoke
It's in my 99 that its happening. It is currently running stock tune. I'm going to get DP Tuner but I wanted to make sure I'm not starting with a problem. So whats the best option for a new pump? There has to be something better than stock. I was looking at a sales thing on the FASS stuff a while back but if I remember correctly it still used the stock pump. I don't suppose a 6.0 pump is the same or work? I have a next to new on of those.
A Bosch 044 pump is an inexpensive upgrade to the stock pump on the SD. FASS now makes a high pressure version of their pump which doesn't require you to run the OEM high pressure pump. I know Diesel Innovations sells the correct FASS pump, I'm sure other FASS dealers can get them as well.
Then there is the old standby Aeromtive A1000 series of pumps.
with the FASS system, can it be mounted someplace other than where they tell u to? I don't really like that you can see the filters plus I'm pretty sure it would hit my suspension. The areomotive pumps, can I use the A1000 or do I have to get the marine pump they make? The marine one is the only one that say it works with diesel, all the others say they just don't work with alcohol they don't say what they do work with.
You can mount the FASS where ever you want, but the filters must be vertical to work correctly. You can use the A1000 if you want, internally they use the same parts, IIRC the color and endplate O-rings are the only difference.
