i have the early 99 powerstroke and i put a ts 6 position chip in the other day and when i turn it to the extreme setting and put it to the floor the motor makes a weird clacking kind of sound when it gets up in the higher rpms. It it because it is not getting enough fuel?? Is this normal? Thanks for the help

sounds like a turbo flutter...comming from the compressor wheel maybe?

I think an aftermarket compressor wheel would help the "air surge"

but thats not comming form much experience

Could also be a pre turbo exhaust leak. Look at all up pipe connections and where the manifolds bolt to the engine. If there is soot arond these connections then they are leaking.

The fuel system is a dead head style fuel routing on your truck and they will sometimes starve the #8 injector for fuel which will make some type of noise. I am not real familiar with what kind of noise that is. Can someone help me out there?

There are 2 ways to solve the injector issue:

1. (OK Option) Add a fuel crossover line from the rear of the drivers side head to the front of the passenger side head.

2. (Best Option) Install a regulated return fuel system. Pre-made kits can be bought for 400 to 500 bucks.
