In the long run it would be a smarter move to go with killerbee's intake mod or some other modification of the stock box. The performance is similar to the 06 box but the cost and availability of the 06 air filters will burn you over the long haul. The 06 box also will come from GM with temperature alarm alterations that will not let you know if you have a cooling problem until it is too late.
I agree, I have KBs custom intake and I'm very impressed with its performance. My fan appears to run less than with the stock intake.

ECT Readings

FWIW,
I have a fleet of GM vehicles at home, 05 Montana, 01 Olds, 87 El Camino, 06 Trailblazer, 07 Solstice GXP, and an 05 LLY Duramax. The only one of these vehicles that exhibited fan activation without any ECT gauge was the Duramax. I cannot speak for the Civic drivers.

I only drive about 120K a year, I happen to be in tune with what is going on with any vehicle that I drive.

also have 2006 air intake

My dealer did the swap as well. After it was done I discovered new filter will cost more. On trip after I saw no increase in MPG, but had cooler temps all around. I am interested in all changes in programming. i wonder if that was what I saw in the form of lower temps.
