An interesting article on the use of 2 stroke oil as a fuel additive was published recently:

Not sure how US diesel compares to that in S. Africa, but one would hope it is close. I do know that our cetane numbers tend to be lower than European (and, judging by the chart, also S. African) diesel.

That is an excellent report!

I quite using 2cycle along time ago and long suspected injector tip fouling could be a problem, this report proves that.

Another factor in the test is they used a common rail injected engine, common rail injector nozzles have finer-smaller spray holes in the tip and will foul easier, but none the less, it's still a factor that 2cycle may cause excessive build up on the tips, even on our 6.0L's.
