I have a cm871 isx in a 09 389. The engine is pressurizing the cooling system and am waiting for the oil analysis to come back but fairly certain this thing has a head gasket or liner issue. I am heavily thinking about swapping out the ISX in favour of a 3406e or detroit ddec3/4. Has anyone done this exact swap? I am not worried about the intake/ exhaust side of things, more so engine mounts, wiring harness, etc. Short haul/ local work only and current engine is already fully de regd, with a non vgt turbo. Looking for first hand experience with this swap, not speculation. Thanks in advance.

I swapped out a 2006 ISX and put in a cat BXS accert in its place not a terrible job just a little time consuming the mounts bolted right up the wiring harness contact Mawk industries in Arizona and call him and tell him what your swapping in just make sure you at least do a 70 pin Cat so that you can turn on the data link so that your cab can communicate with the ecm

If you ask me I wouldn't go with DDEC3/4, the DDEC5 is far superior when it comes to fuel economy.
Common problem on DDEC5s is exhaust manifold cracking on cyl #3 or #4 - check that before buying a used engine.
