Im looking seriously at a 2002 2500 4x4 5spd extended cab long bed by my house. It only has 55k miles on it and is asking $23000. No 5th wheel and only pulled light trailers. Let me know if i yall think this is a great deal and if i should go for it.

Personally it sounds high to me.

I sold a 2003 Dodge 3500 2 wheel drive automatic, 4 door dually, with 90K on the ticker for $18,000

It sounds kind of high to me also. I bought my 02 CTD 4x4 4door ext cab for $21,000 2 yrs ago with 50k on it. Correct me if I'm wrong but the 5yr/100,000 mile warranty on that truck's powertrain is coming close to an end. Right about now you might start seeing l/p failure along with the i/p. Not to mention the front end might start needing parts soon. The batteries if original might need replacement. This doesn't happen to every truck at this time but around 75k is when she might need some parts. These are piddly things but they add up fast. Good luck!

Baught my 01 4x4 dually, club cab, Pacbrake, HO, 6sp, Larame, sprayed bed, with tow hitch, fifth wheel hitch, and goose neck hook up for $17,000 plus tax and license, ( about $18,900 ). It did have 156,000 on it but it was only 3yrs old when I baught it, ( 2 yrs ago ), so the miles had to be mostly hyway.
So far I had to replace the lift I knew to do this from advice I read on TDR to install a fuel preasure gauge. I just replaced the tires along with the ball jounts. The steering is loose so I'll have to modify the track bar and get a better steering shaft but that seems to be a given for these years. It has 171,000 on it now. Just put 2000 miles on it running up to see my kid in Colorado. I live in Bullhead City Arizona. I ran 80 mph most of the way. It gets 16 mpg at 80mph, 18 mpg at 70 mph, and 20 mpg at 60 mph, unloaded. Gets about 12 to 14 loaded to 19,000 lbs. Where I live your usualy pulling a hill or desending one.
About your question, heck I don't know. Check to see if the steering is tight and the brakes have lots of wear and the tires have a lot of rubber and all the usuall stuff. If it doesn't have one get a fuel pressure gauge asap. Mine lift pump was getting weak and the engine tried to stall a few times until I replaced it. I got the FASS system which never lets the psi go below 15 even at wide open throttle. Actually I've only seen it go below 16 psi twice and that was ove a year ago.
OH YA, I did put some Rancho 9000 shocks on it but that was mainly for the heavy towing and they do work great.
And one last thing, the seller usualy asks high so you can talk him down to what he really wants unless you don't bother to talk him down. Then he gets more than he planned on.

Well i went and test drove it and talked to the guy for a while. He said he's sellin it because his knee went out and he cant do the clutch anymore. He said the only prob;em he had was the seal on the rear axle blew out but he had it repalced along with all the fluids. The motor still has 45k miles of warranty on it and he said that i probably should get the valves adjusted and its covered by waranty. as for price i could get it for $19,500 with some wheelin and dealin. Every thing was tigh on it and it really gets up and goes. He runs a munincipal utility district so he just drove around looking at stuff in neighborhoods.

Well he probably priced it so high because he was too caught up in how many miles were on it.
