I have March 03 build date truck. 217,000 miles. No major problems at all!
These are the only problems i have had in 217,000 miles.
Replaced FICM.. (Bad batteries killed it)
Replaced origional batts at 150,000 miles
2 front hubs. At 100,000 miles (normal wear item)
Brakes
Replaced the belt at 130,000 miles
Tires.
Thats it!
I cant stress enough the importance of proper maintaince and fluid changes.
Trans every 50,000 miles
Coolant every 50,000 miles.
Get rid of the EGR. Block it off.
Get rid of the CAT conv.
Mine is strait piped. (Love the 03 turbo whine)
Run 1oz 2 cycle oil per gallon of fuel. (Im on origional injectors)!!
Oil changes every 5000 miles. ( I run 5-40 synthetic rotella)
ONLY MOTOCRAFT FILTERS
Coolant filter
This is just a few items i would recommend to make the truck you choose last. I think the earlier models are better. Have several friends with 05 thru 07 models with alot of problems. Thats just my opinion.
I love my truck and will continue taking care of it and im sure it will go another 200,000. Good luck.
