I'm looking to replace the v6 petrrol mercruisers in my 26 foot carabean flybridge with a pair of light weight 4 cylinder turbo diesels. Does anyone have any sugestions as to what engine might make a good base to start with. I want to push towards 250hp each and would prefer to steer clear of any comon rail engines as the electronics can be difficult to modify, I'm looking at something with mechanical injection that I can add a larger turbo and up the boost and open the pump up. Any sugestions ? Toyota ? nissan? ect.

what size of a motor do you want to use? a 3.9L 4bt cummins is a good 4cyl and can make 250hp no problem.

there is also the detroit 4cyls.

VW TDI is the only thing that I can think of that won't shift center of gravity balance.

Changing the weight will change the trim.
