yes, i know.... you would have to have been living under a rock to not know the spartan is the cats meow to 6.4s like custom sct for 6.0... however, they also cost 3x as much... within the next 2 weeks my 6.0 should be sold and im going to buy a used 08 6.4. i know im not going to be able to stand driving around a "stock" truck but definetely not going to be able to afford a spartan right off the bat. so my ? is... is there another style tuner for them that will add decent power along with transmission tuning (better shifts...) because i know from experience DO NOT buy a tuner for a ford that does not tune the tranny.... having to replace the tranny is way way more expenesive in the long run...

also, usually the first 2 things i do to my trucks when i buy them is tint the windows and cut the exhaust within the first week or so... ideally i would like to do 5" straight pipe with dpf delete... so where would be a good place to purchase one of them ? also the above tuner needs to be able to address the dpf delete!

any ideas what kind of hwy mpg should be pulled with tuner dpf delete and stock 20s w/33s?

and how about egr delete kits..?

anything else good to do to these things ?

Your pretty much looking at Spartan, SCT, and H&S. As far as I know they are the only ones who do DPF deletes and tune the trans as well.

ya thats what i figured... i def want trans tuning... learned that the hard way running banks on my 6.0... dont nec have to start out with 300+ hp LOL but i was just kindof hoping they could do the same custom tunes on handhelds like 6.0 without spending so dang much... and def want to straight pipe it and get rid of the emissions crap..

If you want big custom tunes, your going to be spending money. I think the cheapest option if you want big custom tunes is the SCT SF3 and the Livewire. The cheapest H&S option is the XRT, but it only comes with a 120 tune as its highest and it does not tune the tranny. If you want to do it right the first time around then go Spartan!

LOL not what i was wanting to hear but sounds like your right... wish the gf wouldnt have walked in the room while i was talking to her dad about how much the tuners cost.... she said i think you can prolly do without a programmer on this one for that much $$ LOL .......dont think so:madpoke

be nice if i could have found a little of a cheaper truck to get the loan for a little extra for it but dont want that high of a truck payment either! :bang:haha dang imma tightass.. found a truck i like a lot about 4 hrs away asking 36K... gottem down to 33500 already... toldem id prolly pick it up this weekend if they could go 32

checked out the spartan site and i didnt see prices.. ive read its 1250....shipped? up to what tunes that come with, how much extra are the bigger tunes, how much extra to add the gps?

mainly i guess need to just budget tinted windows, spartan, exhaust for now and ill be happy for a while...

ok think im going to try IDP livewire.... any recommendations on which exhaust to buy? wanting 5" with all the deletes...

can you not just buy a full pre made downpipe back exhaust with it all deleted? how much $?

ok, so finally got the truck.. love it!! try to get some pics up shortly, already startin some small dress up mods! LOL performance wise heres the plans so far...

IDP custom tunes
5" straightpipe 7" tip
already got s&b intake
that pass side intercooler tube that pancakes
suncoast direct solenoid
maybe intake elbow

anything else reasonably priced and beneficial to look into?

Get an Intercooler pipe on there and build you a set of Traction bars for it! With the tunning, your going to be putting out way more than your old 6.0 was:thumbsup Next time we meet up your going to have to give me a ride!

Don't worry about the intake elbow. Go with a downpipe.
i thought there was some benefit with the intake elbow delete the egr valve or something?

also, as stated on the other forum... you wanna help install that dp exhaust? :peelout
