for awhile now, I seem to not have the big power in level 5 on the comp. However levels 1-4 seem to be the same as always. for example, i get more black smoke and it feels stronger in level 3 than level 5. I have acually compared this in 3 and 5 by watching my smoke output in both levels, at the same speed, gear and rpm. and level 3 is definatly putting out more smoke and the truck feels stronger than in 5.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? could my inj. pump be on its way out not being able to supply fuel for the upper level?

any other ideas would be helpful, thanks

Edge Comp has a know bug issue with there products... Like I know if you take and set 4x1 and tthen switch to 5x5 you'll notice the truck runs very doggy on 5x5 now... But if you switch it to 4x5 and then select 5x5 you'll notice huge power gain. So all the level tend to effect neighboring levels. So if you going to dyno you better set it as 1x5, 2x5, 3x5, 4x5, 5x5 then you get the most...

Play with it you notice it too... Edge Products has a updated software but there newer version is still riddled with software flaws. For example the level crossing, not coming on cold, etc...

As for power I've tested it against my ScanGauge II for horsepower calculations...

Main level number controls MAXIMUM FUEL & TIMING. The lower the number the lower the maximum fuel and timing will be.

Sub level number controls how fast you'll get to maximum fueling and timing...

MAIN LEVEL
1 - 40HP
2 - 60 HP
3 - 80 HP
4 - 100HP
5 - 120HP

SUB LEVEL
1 - 33% of fuel rate and no extra timing given till 20 PSI of Boost
2 - 50% of fuel rate and no extra timing given till 15 PSI of Boost
3 - 67% of fuel rate and no extra timing given till 10 PSI of Boost
4 - Some fuel and timing given at 0 PSI of boost
5 - Most fuel and timing given at 0 PSI of boost

1-3 Sublevel are a DEFUEL MODE design for large injectors to control smoke and make it more driveable on the streets. There is NO measure MPG gain in these modes (1-3). As for (4-5) there is a +2 MPG gain in these modes. The highier the main level the better the gain. (more timing!)

So if you set at 1-3 you will not gain any extra FUEL & TIMING till you EXCEED the BOOST requirement. So for example set on 3x1 and you cruising at 55 MPH and have 2 PSI of boost. You only getting stock fueling and timing. (NO GAINS!) But if you where to switch over to 4x4 you will feel a jump in power (Timing & fuel) and the MPG should rise +2 MPG. This is because sublevel 4 allows extra fuel and timing at 0 BOOST!

Not to take over the tread or anything, but what about the power levels and fueling on the edge drag box?

i have noticed that it does feel different when you play with the power levels but i thought it was my imagination. i have also noticed better fuel economy on higher levels, witch agrees with what you are saying. Thank you for the info.

As soon as i save some money (could never happen) i want to get some injectors, probably mach 3's. Saving that green stuff sure is hard though. Especially since I'll have to buy a clutch to hold the extra power first!

Should be the same fueling and timing...

Edge Comp has normal defueling at 2,700 RPM's and torque management (defueled in 1st and 2nd gears)...

Edge Drag has no defueling to redline and full fueling in 1st and 2nd gears...

UNKNOWN! I know this applies to Edge Comp... You might try it on your juice to see if it does it too...:poke:

If you want some extra kick down low add a Smarty to that Comp. Really adds some low end grunt.

In either case AUTO or MANUAL you better upgrade transmisions...

In my truck I could spin my clutch with a Edge/Smarty Stack. I'm already at 381/826 with just a Edge Comp... Smarty put well over the 400+ HP and that all the clutch is rated for... :poke:

Us HO guys that come stock with a 13" clutch should be fine right? I'm not sure of what it's rated for but I haven't noticed any problems with my truck and the juice/smarty stack. Of course I might notice after injectors....
