Both of these engines aren't hard to do something with. Each can be raised to roughly 620 Hp at the tires with tuning.Iv got a 475 6nz and a 435 uprated to 475 5ek, and want more power.
My first question is how do I get one of your tunes for the 6nz Mr. Haney? And do I need a larger turbo to go to 550-600hp?
Secondly, for the 5ek, it has 200k on a oh, I have the peperwork showing which cylinder packs got put in, but not infront of me. Do I dare push it to 550? My main concern is it being it was originally a 435, did they put cylinder packs in for 435 or 475 when they did the oh. The uprate was done at the time of oh.
Im sure sure this isn't the first time this has been asked, but I figured I would like to hear straight from the source.
thanks in advance.
edit: a little side not. I don't pull much for hills, mostly hopper bottoms loaded up to 80-120k. 6nz has 13spd, haven't looked at the tq rating, 5ek has a stupid 10, hopefully to be swapped to a 13spd.
The 435 5EK has the same cylinder packs as a 500 Hp 5EK. The 550 has basically the same cylinder pack with the only difference being the piston crown. The 435 cylinder packs can handle the 620 Hp at the tires without any problems. The only problem with the 5EK 435 uprated to 475 is the turbo is smaller than the 5EK 550 hp turbo.
The 6NZ stock turbo will be small at these power levels for your workload, but will survive for a year or so, if it doesn't already have a million miles on it. After that you're taking a big risk of it going bang. If you were staying 80K and less in gross weights they can last for a few years, before the bang
