The speedometer in the 1986 W900 I'm restoring is not working.

The speed sensor measures 282 ohms -> at the speedometer connector.
Is this reading correct?

An orange wire goes from the speedometer head to the six pin connector.
The wire on the mating connector plug has been cut off,,,,,, and I don't see what it connects to.

Any suggestions troubleshooting my speedometer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jon

There is usually one terminal that is not used on those heads and it would be for a two speed differential. The other 5 are for power, ground, two twisted wires for the sensor and gauge light. 282 ohms sounds like it is in range but a bit on the low side. I'd have to look it up to be sure. Check the sensor gap by screwing it in until it touches then back it out a half turn. If the wiring checks out, replace the sensor. After that it's the head.
