OK guys, I am driving down the road at 65 mph, and all of my stock gauges bottom out for about 5 seconds and the numbers in my odometer are replaced with 'no bus'. I get all my gauges back, along with a check engine light. There was no change in the engine speed or performance during this time period, or after. About 20 minutes later, when I get home, I pull codes and get the following 1595, 0500, 1492, 1694, 1693, and 1687. Any ideas?

0500 - Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction

1492 - Ambient/Batt Temp Sen Volts Too High

1595 - Speed Control Solenoid Circuits

1687 - No Cluster Bus Message

1693 - DTC Detected In Companion Mode

1694 - Fault In Companion Mode

Unhook you batteries and let the computer reset and see if that clears it. The 1693 and 1694 are companion codes. That means they detect codes in another computer. In this case the odometer can only read Dodge computer codes and nothing from the Cummins. So it just tells you there is a code/s in the Cummins ECM and needs to be read. In order to do that you are going to have to use a OBD-II scanner. The 0500 code is a speed sensor code which is real common where a Edge EZ is used. Usually nothing to worry about, but also could men you have got some mositure inside your speed sensor plug. Might take it apart and spray a little wd-40 in there and put some di-electric grease inside the plug. The others I am not real sure what they are pointing towards. They could very well just be the results of other codes.

About three years ago I posted this same happening on the TDR about this happeing to me. It got to the point that when driving it was like someone reached over and clean done shut the key off and then back on a few secconds later. Then one day NoBuS stayed in the display and she idled like the 3 cyl cold run condition.

I started with the basics and rule of thumb is check grounds when an electrical issue is encountered. This is not only your least expensive step for obvious reasons but is also one of the most crucial as well. I remade all my grounds (Main lugs on the block , battery terminals, and all other points of ground that are "Serviceable". Quick sanding here and there , di-electric , and coating of completed connections and I have had not ONE incling of an issue for three years now ever scince.

Being the ECM is grounded directly thru the block the main lug ground (Off the passenger battery) is the MOST important.
