My son has a 95 Sierra with the 6.5 and the 5 speed manual trans. For whatever reason, the speedometer doesn't work. All the other gauges work just fine, and there are no fuses blown that I see.

However, we were under it, and there is a plug about halfway back on the trans that's chewed up pretty good and not plugged into anything. It is not the speedo sensor at the rear of the trans. That seems to be ok.

We are at a loss to where this gray mystery plug goes... Any thoughts?

i just bought a five speed, from a '95 for my truck. based on the research i did, i believe it is a cellunoid, solenoid?-wtf and possibly a sensor to disallow shifting into reverse when in foward motion

also, my guess for the speedometer problem would be: the sensor? in transmission (closer to tail), or the speedometer
