When you say overheating, are you talking about it going into the red on the gauge? or just losing fluid out the over flow? I am staying at 180 to 200deg, however my message comes on low fluid level, add about 1/8 0f a gal antifreeze and it is good for awhile. This seems to happen mostly when I turn the A/C on an the temp outside is 80 or higher. Any feed back ?

took it to the dealer yesterday, told him coolant leak at times, never over heated, check and advise,
their reply was ,checked concern, test drove, found engine building pressure,in cooling system and causing fluid to leak out of overflow, possible internal engine damage, leaking head gasket, etc
they told me to take it to a diesel garage one that works one big rigs as they are still guessing at the cause, does any one have any ideas as what it is??/

If the head gasket is compromised it could be letting exhaust into the cooling system. That would explain your high pressure condition.

How many miles are on the truck?

93,500 dealer says , the only problem with head gasket, is the fact that that it doesn't do it all the time, they drove it 2 times while it was in the shop and only once did water come out. if it is head gasket how do, you check with out tearing it dowm, the dealer is saying about $8,000to fix if it is head gasket,

There really is no way to check the gaskets without taking the head off. Until then its really just best guess. Have you pressure checked the cooling system? Any excess smoke out of the exhaust? Any oil in the coolant or vice versa?

That's what the dealer did pressure tested the cooling system No oil in the coolant, nor in the engine ,nor is their excess smoke out the exhaust ( the dealer and my self are calling it the D-Max from hell) after they checked it Pressure, they had had it for 11/2 days that's where they came in and said take it to the big trucks shop, If it was a gasket wouldn't it puke coolant all the time?

It depends on how bad the gasket is compromised.

Okay, how long can I drive it before it totally gives out? I bought the d-max for my last truck, thought it would last until i died. Hell they about 8k to 10k to fix it. I'm retried, can't afford that. Guess I will try to find a place to trade it in !

Thats impossible to say. If its just leaking coolant, its probably going to be a while before you have a more pressing issue. But, it could also die tomorrow.

With only 94K on it, I would try and work something out with the dealership (or go to another one), as it should still be under warranty, or they may be able to 'grandfather' you in because of how close it is.

It is 5 years or 100,000 miles but because your so close to it, they may (or should) be able to work out a deal with you. If not, ask to speak to the manager, or go to a different dealership. Good luck.
