Hi - I have a 2001 PSD Excursion with a couple of things wrong...

1) It throws a P1316 IDM code.

What causes this?

2) There is a small leak behind the filter housing - it seems to be coming close by the fuel "lever" to release fuel pressue when perfomring a filter swap.

Thoughts?

This whole filter housing - is it also a feed pump for the injectors?

Thanks and my apologies for these rather "uneducated" questions. I am new to PSDs....

Thanks!

no questions is uneducated if you are new and dont know.. the fuel flows through the fuel filter before the injectores but theres no extra pumps on powerstrokes.. only 1 pump on the frame rail. this is a very commen spot for a fuel leak on these trucks the fix is to buy a new set of orings and valve.. not all that expensive.. not hard to change at all either just take your time.. as far as the idm code.. im not sure all my superchips page says is "p1316 injector circ/idm codes detected" not sure what this means im sure some1 can help you out.. you might want to fill out your signature so we know what kinda mods u have done so far... oh and WELCOME!!!!!!

P1316, and almost all other IDM codes are *typically* (but not always) related to the under valve cover harness, or the valve cover gasket connectors.

If your IDM itself has gone bad, you wouldnt be driving your truck.

Start simple and check the connectors going into the valve cover, and the harness leading up to the valve covers. If it looks good on the outside, its a good chance the problem may be inside the valve cover.

If you have access to a really good scan tool such as the autoenginuity, there is a way to make it talk to the IDM and pull out more specific IDM codes, such as what specific injector is causing the IDM to complain.
