Last night i ran my truck for the first time at the track in cecil ga. the first race i had it in 4hi and when i left all i did was spin my back to tires, thought it just didnt lock in. when i turned to the right my back left tire starting popping and clicking like it wanted to lock up, even in 2 wheel drive.. then i ran one more time and made 100% sure 4hi was locked in. It did the same thing again.. then the popping and clickin was wayy worse. it only does it on the left side whenever i turn kinda sharp.. we noticed the tire was wanting to lock up when i turned. But when i drove it about 30 miles really easy it wasnt doing it anymore for some reason.. now i hear a sqeaking noise towards my bed somewhere by the axle i think and idk what in the world i messed up so somebody please help me out.. cause i really dont wanna take my programmer, exhaust, intake, lift, tires and rims off if its something i can get fixed easily and cheap..

broken axle, broken limited slip? Only takes two mins to pull an axle and check. Remove the 8 small bolts from the rear hub and slide it out. Pull the diff cover and look for pieces. I would like to think any of the above would be making a lot of noise at speed.

thanks man ill check it out tomorrow and see if i can find anything broken or misplaced. its just funny to me it done it at the track, when i street raced pretty frequently and had no problems with a 4hi boosted launch. But maybe its not anything too serious. :bang

i'm guessing its typical limited slip behavior of the rear axle....mine does the same thing while in 4 wheel drive during sharp lefthand turns.i aint concerned but maybe i should be :peelout.

As said above it could be a mess up LS unit so pull the axle and diff cover and look for small pieces. More then likely it's nothing and you're hearing the squeaking noise now because you're looking for something but it can't hurt to check it out.

Good luck man and keep us posted..... I hope it's not serious.

If it was a broke axle shaft, you'd know it pretty easy. There would be chunks in the diff, and probably take out the gears. Only way it's broke and not grenading the gears is if it was a clean shear break, and I doubt that.

I'd put money on the limit slip. Before you pull the cover to inspect, be sure to have new fluid to fill it with, liquid gasket for the seal, and some carb or brake cleaner to clean the gears off real good to look at the internals.

Keep us updated
