o thought that they made them, just not in the trucks i pretty sure that in the vans they still made them. but in mid 98 they made the f-250 and f-350 and marked them 99. becuase that's when they made them super duties. i could be very wrong tho.

Ford didn't make any F-250 Super Duty or F-350 trucks in 1998. They did make the F-150 and F-250 Light Duty in 1998.

Yes, there were Superdutys and 97 Powerstrokes on the lots at the same time in 98. The 97 production went on as late as 12/97 by the build tags I've seen. Early spring in 98 Super Dutys were already out on the dealer lots.

True they were on the lots at the same time, but there is not such thing as a 1998 obs or SD f250 or f350

I dunno why they didnt call them 98.5s they have 99.5s

The SDs were supposed to be '98s originally but they kept getting pushed back and so were called '99s. Seems as I recal they hit the showroom floors around Feb of '98 badged as '99. Only '98 Powerstrokes were in the vans.

My 99 has a manufacture date of 04/98...

I thought I had read somewhere that the same kind of thing was going to be done again this year... No 2007, jumping straight to the 2008.

I also have an early 99 built 4/98, technically you could call it a 98 model I guess.

Cost Kip. Every model has to pass EPA, Cafe, etc. The half years won't be on a title or MSO #. The enthusiasts usually name the .5 models.

Ford built the Mustang in 64 with a 260 V8 that became a 289 in early 65. All are titled as 1965's. But you often see 64.5 mustangs for sale.

Parts guys are messed by up the 98 all the time. 98 F-250 light duty--should have called it F-200 or something :D.

I'm a Ford dealer in Mass and when Ford came out with the idea of a new body style for the 1999 style trucks, they could not produce a "superduty" in 1998 because all their thoughts and focus were towards the new 1999 body and 7.3l with a few changes. You could buy a 5.4 liter or 4.6 liter F-150 or F-250 light duty but nothing good for diesel in 1998

I have seen a few (2 of them)f250's that were 97's, and had the f150 body, 8-lug wheels and ifs. whats up with that? Was 97 a weird year between the 92-96 body and the superduty? Has anyone else seen a f250 like this? The first one i saw, i thought mabee someone took off the f150 badges until i saw the 8-lug wheels. i thought the 250's and 350's had the 92-96 body until 98 but i guess i was wrong

What you saw was a light duty F-250 with 7 lug wheels. In 1997, all of the OBS F-250s had HEAVY DUTY on their emblems. The F-250LD went on to become the F-150 7700 Series.

My boss has an '01 7700 series and the 7 lug axles has got to be one of the stupidest things Ford has ever done!

Other than the LIGHT duty F-250s as stated above. They were the later F-150 body style.
