I am planing on puting a comon rail in my 04 and I am trying to figure out a round about price for doing the swap just stock for now all I want to do first is to get the motor 04.5-05 put it in and get it runing and driving with the gauges and obd working so I can drive it and have as little down time as posible. my questions are

how much can I expect to pay for the motor and 6 speed trans if needed?

my truck has the zf 6 speed will that work or should I get the dodge 6 speed which is better?

how much can I expect to pay for all the adapter parts needed?

I now that the prices wont be exact I am just looking for round about figure to think about and to compare to the price of building the 6.0 thanks

i am in the process of doing this swap, i have a early 04 motor, if you use the 05-06 motor you will need to wire your throttle pedal to the motor, the 03-04 has the potetiometer on the motor and uses a cable. the quad motor mounts from www.autoworldmt.com are $650 the trans adapter is 795, ecm flash to remove security and tell it is a manual(if it came with an auto) 250, powersteering bracket 120. these are just some of the things you will need to think about.

you can find good deals on motors out there, but a good one with low mileage from a salvage yard is going to be 5-6K and you might not get everything on the motor.

also go to the EPA website and search for engine switching so you can see the laws for your state, most say that you have to use the same year motor or newer to make the switch legal. http://www.epa.gov/otaq/consumer/otaqcontacts.pdf
on this link you will find a phone number for Tom Ball he should be able answer any legal quetions about these conversions.

i am pretty sure you will use your ford clutch with a custom cut fly wheel give destroked a call or GOS performance

it would sure be a lot cheaper if you can just use a spacer but i anot sure with the manuals, the auto's need a custom flex plate to bolt up the TC
