Well this weekend i finally went and pulled my truck i went 173.4ft and took 6th outa 10 trucks (1 duramax 1 fordwith a 24v in it and the rest dodges) i was the only ford there that had a stroker in it and was the least modified truck in the class, anyway i was looking for any advise or ideas to do better at next months pulls. i had my edge evolution on tow setting and pulled in 4 low and drive in tow/haul. and i know i need gauges im working on that.

I'd put it on EXETREME RACE in 3rd gear 4HI to get the wheel speed. footbrake it at the line to build boost, leave with atleast 10psi.

Not to be mean but that is the last thing I would do. Either try to run 4 low and shift her out into 3rd. Or run 4 hi first with no lockup.(light sled)

i would put it on high performance. do not try to spool it up on the line chances are you will hop and break a drive shaft. get the sled rollin and then stand in it. i dont think your truck is making enough power for a launch off the line. it sounds like your truck is your dailly driver and i would hate to see you tear it up. but i would play around with it until you find what best suits you. good luck and keeps us posted on how things turn out.

I'd do extreme, a short burst even to 1600 degrees like that won't hurt it any, there is a 7.3 guy running around with big injectors and stock turbo pushing 1600 all the time and he hasn't hurt anything yet, not that its good to do that. I would footbrake it off the line to spool it, you won't break anything, if it hops let out of it a little, theres always another day. I've never seen a ford suspension hop, except for a BUILT 05 6.0L that had a ton of power and too much wheel spin. Your best bet for tires is a set of 33x9.5 BF Goordich Mud Terrains for traction. a set of farmboyfabrication.com traction bars would do you some good also.

well my hankook rto 3's are plenty agressive and im trying to sell my edge and get an SCT Xcal 2 and a couple of tunes and maby a new intake elbow but thats bout far as i can go with cash hopefully it will be enough to at least put on a decent pull instead of a short 174.

Yea, put that sucker on x-treme, we pull our dads 05 6.0 with the BD x-tuner on extreme(140 hp I think) and the tranny set to aggressive. I wouldnt worry about EGTS's for that short of a burst. Oh, and DONT "work" your front-end back and forth to get that x-tra inch at the top end, this is what breaks stuff:damnit

No spool up on the line, just give it about half throttle and get the sled moving-once moving, stand in it!!!

If you have a manual, you have to stay in the gear you start off in, most tracks I've been too-- if you shift you are instantly DQ'd(manual tranny). Danger to spectators, and staff.

Your gearing, and tire size, and power level will decide what gear to pull in. I would try low 2nd first, then work your way up! And by the way if you have an 05 up 6.0, lighty taping the brakes as you go down the track will use the braking system to keep all 4 spinning! And watch out for that front end hop, if it sarts hopin you goin to break somthin!

wow and i thought i was a hillbilly. it seems like a good idea just to get a general idea of what you are doing. back to the manual transmission i would try pulling 2nd low or 3rd high just for wheel speed but it matters alot on the type of track you are on aswell
