Someone that I know has a unique situation with an 02 Ford F350 7.3L. The truck had a complete drop in engine installed last year and has been running fine. In the last 2 months it has developed a problem when towing his stock trailer up a hill and working it, it will start to rattle and loose boost, then if he backs out of it a little the rattle will stop and the boost will come back.

Any thoughts on this issue would be great.

either a exhaust manifold is separating from the head at a certain pressure or somethin in the intercooler system (between the turbo and plenums goin into the engine) is coming coming loose and letting boost pass at a certain pressure...

my best educated guess...

Loosing boost won't cause a "Rattle" IMHO,,, maybe the fuel pump is starting to get weak, and it can't handle the load demand? Low boost on a motor will just be down on power. If your describing the "Rattle" like I imagine, it's starving for fuel maybe.
