after installing a Allison 2400 5 speed behind the cummins and still playing with programming , i occasionally find myself in too high a gear at too low a RPM.... sometimes at 1300 rpm in town and when i step on the gas, before it downshifts i get lots of smoke.... here is my question. is it the star wheel that requires adjustment..?
under all other conditions everything is good, with only very light hazing at freeway speeds when i step on it hard and very rarely reach 1200 degrees on long grades floored..

Turn the star wheel upward. Your bringing in fuel before boost come up.
