Wanted to get some chatter going about Smokin' 2011.

Dates, classes, payouts, etc. I think with the gate numbers, etc. I can get to sponsors sooner, and they will be more willing to put out some cash. I think if we get some big payouts we can draw people in from further out.

One thought, if we don't split the weight classes the payouts will be higher. Alot of guys don't like pulling at 8500 and I realize other guys don't like to shave weight down to 8000. We can discuss the pros and cons.

i think one of the main things is to get the date away from events like TS. I know we really had no choice, but I heard of alot of trucks that had that excuse. Thats just my .02, but im sure everyone is aware of this!!!! Had a great time this weekend, big thanks to everyone!

ditto

I vote for Fall 2011. First or third weekend of October. Leaves will be in full color and people can make that their excuse for coming. :D

Awesome time this past weekend. Loved it! Back to the grind today.

Yeah Fall is a good idea. I don't think that the first weekend would work in the perspective that there is another pull close by that uses that date. That is one reason why I couldn't get alot of Gas 4x4 trucks to come, if we still want to invite them to come. If not the first weekend will work.
I brought it up to all the other members on Sunday at our afterpull prayer service, they sounded like fall was a good idea.

Yeah I think that would be a good idea not to split the classes up, we could do a 8,200lb class that way some Ford Crew cabs could make weight if they pull Work stock.

I will get the results tonight and try to post them.

We could even just split it down the middle 8250, but I won't argue with a friend over 50lbs. LOL

It would be nice to say,

1 - $400
2 - $260
3 - $100

That's if we only put in the same amount as this year!

I am going to strive for $3600 for 2011. I think it can be done.

I would maybe think of offering hooks after the show, for $XX per hook. I think you may find some guys wanting to do that, just another way to bring in some money for you guys.

I wouldn't go any lower then 8250 if your only gonna do one class, (not that i pulled) but a 4 door dually like mine is 8500 the way it sits and its tough/pain dropping to 8k but 8250 is do-able.

Also by making it one weight class it will up the competition, we can split it into heats and have a floating finish and then take the top runners of the heats and throw them into a pull off. Give the crowd something to get into.

Yeah definately all good ideas, yeah 8250 is a good weight. I like the pull off idea with the one weight class. Only thing some pullers don't like is running back to back but that is the alot of pulls do it.

Yeah Wayne a fun pull would be good idea to get some of the people that just want to try it out of competition. We done that the first year and got some trucks out of the crowd!

Also I had talked to Diane at different times about the drapstrip in Eatonton. On Friday they don't have any racing going on unless someone rents it out or special event. On Sunday they have racing!
It is a 1/8 mile strip with not many rules! That could be an idea, I had alot of people wanting to add that but drag racing is something I am not real good with.

We will look into having drag races next year. I need to make sure the track can handle the crowd we will have and is safe for the trucks to run on. Not all tracks can handle the street tires we have nor do some track owners want us to run them. I will call them soon and talk to them about renting the track for a Friday night and what they charge.

Last year when I went, to hit the water box you had to back into the staging lane, there is room to go around the water box. It has recently been repaved.
They had a event called shut up and race and they said 6,000 people were there. I don't see how it held that many but it should hold a 700 people.

I believe the owner would work with you. I don't know him personally, just from asking around last year.

Good Idea! That shouldn't be too hard to organize.
