i remeber reading somewhere here that the old IDI's had problems with tps. cuz in my 91 my tach is basically dead sometimes it will bounce up to like 500 when i m drivin it but its tottaly off.

And does anyone know what is invovled in to repair the glowplug system it looks like it melted and previous owner wired in a button. but i am planning on getting ride of it down the road and i like the orginal fell to it not buttons. thanks in advance.

The TPS on these trucks controlled the transmission so if it was out you would be shifting funny. You most likely have a bad sensor for the tach, it's on the injector pump mounting housing right beside your oil fill tube.
Is the wiring on the GP burnt or just the controller? If the controller is bad it's a simple change.
