I switched mine to synthetic at like 145,000 miles, no issues. Lower tranny temps too.

Hey Billsfan what type are you useing? I was reading on the back of royal purple and it isnt compatiable with mercron uses. and at $17 a quart it needs to work some serious magic. haha

Royal Purple is mostly marketing hype. Its good, but not great, and definitely not worth the extra money. Mobile 1 is one of the better oils out there. And no, it wouldnt hurt to switch to synthetic. It will never hurt. While youre at it grap a few extra quarts and do the power steering system too.

POWER STEERING TAKES ATF?
Yes, I used the Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in there as well. It used to make noise and its now super quiet.

The power steering seems to respond better to synthetic fluid than the tranny.
