Hey guys and gals I may have found a 6.9 for my swap. The engine has sit for a couple years and was wondering if ya guys could give me some tips for just over all inspection. I know the basics check the oil and coolant, but I'm still learning the diesel's. I will not be able to hear it running (sadly) was just wondering if there was certain things to look for to give me the condition overall.thanks for any help.

You can pull out the glow plugs and turn it over by hand. It should spin freely. Put your finger or thumb over each glow plug hole and feel for compression. Diesels create a lot of compression. Just feel if they all are about the same or is one very low (hole in piston or burned valve). This is about all you can do before dismantling for a rebuild. I would not try to run it unless you KNOW what is inside. Good Luck!!

Thanks for the fast reply. The engine is to supose to be in good shape. That's a great point to know more of the internal shape. Thanks a ton
