I am in no way talking smack about Duramax's because I respect all diesels. I am simply wondering because there is a kid at my college talking smack about how my engine is old, outdated, and gutless. I told him I would tow him around the block and back and to put his money where his mouth is. Now, I rarely talk smack because its just not my thing. However, this guy pissed me off. Hes got a 2004 with Banks tuner, wastegate, and a straight pipe. I am leery because I know what these trucks are capable of, but I think I could probably take him in a pull. What do you guys think? Mods are in my sig. I don't have the head back from the machinist yet, so no injectors, no headstuds, and no fire rings yet. Should I wait, or just go for it?

Are you talking a bumper pull, or a race? If its a bumper pull, whoever spins the tires first loses, doesnt have a whole lot to do with power... If its a drag race, I honestly dont think you have much of a chance...

Its a bumper pull. I know I wouldn't win a drag, my truck definitely wasn't built for speed. Plus he has an auto and I would have to row the gears the whole way. But I think 4 lo, in granny 1st should do pretty well in a bumper pull no?

Is his a CCSB, CCLB, RCLB, ECSB, ECLB?
If he had a truck that was a bit heavier he might beat you otherwise you could take him.

I would say don't do something like a bumper pull because it proves nothing and is retarded. The only thing it proves is who has more traction and who has better technique at waiting.

I realize what you are saying, but its what he wanted to do. I don't talk smack because I know when its go time, I better be able to back it up. Plus, I think all diesels are sweet. I am just particularly fond of Cummins. It just pisses me off that instead of saying, thats a badazz truck, or whatever, hes gotta act like his **** is 4 feet around and that his truck is the be all end all. His words literally were "Show me any Cummins and I will F his day up." No exagerations.

I'd say wait and walk all over him...:kick
Thats what I was thinking. Except I think that the next weak link will be my clutch. And I won't be able to afford one for quite a while after this little escapade. I seriously spent my whole tax return and drew my account down to danger levels. But its worth it :goodvsevil

Is his tranny built? If it isn't make a joke about how his chip needs to be turned all the way up or something. He will probably turn it up and fry his tranny, then you win by default...

I wouldn't give in to his childish game and risk tearing my rig up. if your clutch is weak pulling him isn't gonna do it any favors. I have to say just put up with it and smile , that or show him the TOTQ poll :poke...

i agree with Neel, is it really worth it ripping up your rig just to prove him wrong? you should have just laughed in his face as soon as he mentioned banks........ an lb7 with banks aint no flyin hell, wouldnt be much more than my lbz stock... tell him to put his money where his mouth is and do a dyno comp or a real sled pull

If he thinks he is so bad, tell him to meet you at a sled pull and see how bad he is and far he can pull.. I'd bet on your '92 at that point!

Bumper pulling is just asking for to many things to go wrong. If that is his solution to a challange then he hasn't got a clue about trucks and power in the first place.

nobody wins, you both lose.

And I totally agree with both of these posts.

I agree with Brightwhiteram.....put it on the rollers or hook it to the sled. Let that do the talking. Truck performance is only respected by the guy driving it.

First I would like to say what Rcannon said X2. That would be the best strategy.
Second, if you decide to go ahead and do it anyway, set your hitch up high, throw a thousand pounds of sand bags in your bed, and do the pull on a surface that favors your tires over his (I see you have mud tires, if he has highway or all terrains pull in some loose dirt), X2 on tellin him he'll have to turn his chip all the way up and floor it, wait for him to spin and then just gently let out the clutch with just enough throttle to keep from killing it and slowly accelerate so you don't spin yourself.
