I have a 4 inch Gibson exhaust and it's just too quiet for me. I'm thinking of pulling the muffler and throwing some 4 inch pipe in there.

Guys with straight pipes...any resonating...good sound? Good turbo sound?

I'll probably just do it but curious of others who have done it.

I would not have it any other way. Within 2 months of purchase I went straight.

I have an MBRP 4" system with no cat and a straight through muffler and have considered the same thing.

Mine sounds great, but I keep wondering if it would sound better with a muffler delete. Every straight pipe sound clip I have heard sounds great. I just would like to hear one in person before making the decision. :poke: :pointlaugh

Here's a bunch of clips I saved while trying to convice myself to go straight pipe:

Just do it. You won't even notice much of a difference while crusing. WOT gets a little loud. It sounds even better when its 5" dumped infront of the rear tire. Thats my problem. I like my stacks, but it sounds better dumped before the rear tire.

just cut it off and throw in some pipe! all i did on mine was cut the cat and muffler and put a 5" tip and looks and sounds great! mid range is what sounds the best when it starts to cackle! no drone hardly...at 70 mph, dont even know it, much above 75 and you start to hear it though. but its worth it!

well, i think i'm catching a hint. I'm gonna do it. I had a 6.5TD back in the day straight piped and loved the turbo whine...also was killer to set off car alarms in parking decks

Thanks for the input guys, and thanks for those videos...

Do you guys with the 05' and newer models notice an extremely loud hissing/sound of air rushing out the pipe when idling. I have heard the older 03's and they have a more pronounce whistle. I know the whole diffenent turbo vane deal between the years. I just wondered if you guys think the hissing is a bit much.

I don't think it is excessive at all. I wish it was louder to be honest.
