Hello, I'm new to the small truck side of this forum, but I have a question about Dodge Automatics. I have friends with tuned 6.7's that run really good and get good MPG, but they all have manual trans with beefed- up clutches. I would like to do the same with an auto. What can be done to an automatic and how $$ expensive is it to hold 500 to 600 hp? If this has already been flogged to death, I apologize, but I didn't find much on a search.

Outside of building the 68 RFE, which is costly, I know Sun Coast has a kit, and Goerend has converts, you have a couple of options, on TCM Tunes by several different vendors, The ATS Co-Pilot. The 68RFE seems to be a fairly stout trans in stock form, but I can't say how long it will hold 500+ HP. The real high hp guys with 6.7Ls are converting them to built 48REs.
