My friend has a 496/ally and he was hauling shavings for his horses and got to the side of his barn and the truck and trailor sunk up a little. He put it in 4 low and it never spun but really strained to get out. He had several thousand pounds on the trailor so it was in a bind pretty bad. When he got out there was some fluid running out of the top of the trans (never got hot by gauge). This has never happened before and he was wondering why now? It is a 2002 model with 85,000 miles on it. He has been driving it around since and no leaks. Why would it have puked some then and where did it come from on top. Thanks

Possibly its overfilled. When he puts a load to it like that he is slipping the clutches and could have caused severe foaming in the oil which would puke out the dip stick or vent. If its a case of foaming the oil could be shot or close to it I would change it and get a full synthetic in it.
