i have an 85' 1 ton 4x4 6.2 400 turbo 205 t-case with 4.56 gears and 33 " tires. should drop my gears to a 4.10 or get a 700r built up. wanting to do some highway driving without over revving the motor for long periods of time.

I would vote for the 700r4 except they aren't near as stout as the 400. And not knowing how you use your truck, I can't say if it will hold up or not. I think 31" tires would be perfect for the 700 with those 4.56's.

The way the engines are governed I think you'll be fine driving on the governor all day as long as the dampner and such is in good shape
