I had vented about a month ago about a lube shop leaving my oil cap off and I drove 3500 miles before I figured it out: http://www.thedieselgarage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60207&highlight=lube+shop+left+my+oil+cap+off.
The lube shop owner changed my oil and filter at no charge and replaced the lost cap.
I have now driven approx 1500 miles and I still smell burnt oil. Is it possible the smell has attached itself to my airfilter and it is coming in my a/c vents ?
Any other ideas ?

Maybe clean the engine and see if that helps, or you might have a new oil leak developing. But if its been smelling like that ever since they left the oil cap off, its possible, since the oil fill cap is towards the right rear on the exhaust side, that some oil got trapped in the heat shielding and is soaked and burning off slowly, just a thought.

Thanks.....I have looked for oil drops in my parking spot with no results.
Most of the smell seems to be coming from the cab rather than outside. This where I came up with my airfilter/AC theory ?
