i have the ts 6 position chip in my early 99 and when i turn it to the 140 hp setting and mat it it slams into second gear really hard and feels like it is going to break something. Is this normal? Does anybody else have this problem? thanks:smoke

Yep I have the same problem. My chip isn't a TS but it does it just the same. Cause of the problem: Too much power for the transmission to handle. I have been babying mine along for a while until I have the money to get a good trans.

Did you just get your chip in or have you had it a while and are just now noticing it?

If you just got the chip you may want to contact TS about it and see if they think it is a problem with programing, but more than likely your trans is slipping and then all of the sudden BAM it hits second gear. You also may want to try turning O/D OFF. This allows an extra clutch pack to be engaged in first and second gear. Just push the O/D button again once it shifts into third gear so it will shift into O/D when you need it.

my truck USED to do that back when i had the stock XLE4 computer in it and three chips i tried, two were 4 positions. upgrade to a computer from a 99.5+ truck, much better transmission strategys and better drivability.

Trans pressures are ramped up higher to hold and distribute the power of the 140 setting, you can asked to have them reduced in the chip programing, but still isn't going to be good for long with a stock tranny. Most built trannys will run higher than stock pressuers so you can have the pressures reduced in the chip so as not to have stiffer gear changes...
