Driving today up modest grade and the truck was in 5th gear, lugging a bit and then broke into what sounded like turbo flutter or turbo stall. Like a puffing sound out of the air box.

Power was reduced to nothing but the truck didn't shift down. I then pressed the accelerator to get it to fourth and the futter went away but as soon as it lugged in 4th it started to flutter.

The only time I have had this before with my 6.0 was after matting it trying to get unstuck.

I never experienced it under very normal driving conditions with no weight load or anything.

I have been haveing shifting issues again/still and it has been worse since I the dealer re-programed the truck to try to elliminate the P164A code so maybe it is a shift point issue pulling the truck below the rpm range it should be at.

I don't know. Taking it to the dealer on Wednesday.

The more miles I put on it (32,000 km's or about 20,000 miles) the less happy I am getting. It rattles something firerce on the gravel roads, the window cant be partway down on gravel roads as they rattle, the headrests rattle, the doors rattle and squeak, shifts poorly 50% of the time (been in for 3 re-flashes), and is now using more DEF and getting pooer mileage (yes, same driving conditions, etc.) as I go.

Small rant over. If anyone has expeirence the turbo flutter on this model, under similar conditions I would like to know. I have driven the same roads, same grade, many times and nothing until today.

Trans program messed up again (3rd reprograming) and it was not shifting at the right points.

Took the diesel foreman out for a test run this morning.

He mentioned that the power up (400/800) flash was/is likely the cause of the trans issues I have been experiencing. ??

True or not it is getting annoying to say the least.

The 400/800 was supposed to help transmission problems? I'm really surprised you're hearing all this rattling? My 08 doesn't rattle barely at all?

Truck is still having troubles and turbo stall is much worse when pulling a trailer. Wasn't even heavy last weekend and it fluttered continuously in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th gears.

It does it at a constant throttle on grade so basically when the truck is under some load (truck does it empty but not quite as bad).

Anyhow, no one seems to know anything yet so looks like I'm unique to this issue.

As for rattling, my 06' didn't and my 95', 96', and 97's with over 300,000 kilometres didn't rattle as much.

Not impressed with the truck off road that much. On the highway it's great but mine is in the bush every day.

I second the rattling complaint. It is brutal. I took it to the dealer a few time to try to get the dash / door rattles fixed but they say there is nothing they can do. Off road is not good! I have ordered the Carli Pintop King 2.5 suspension system and I will let you know how it is (if it ever gets here!). They say it is a dramatic improvement on road and off.

NADP + H&S took care of all my shifting / CEL / mileage issues but not too happy I had to go that route.

Thanks

The stall or flutter under a load any way is the same. I use my pickup all the way from pulling my 5th wheel camper to driving thru pastures feeding cattle and even raking hay sometimes and I think its the best built ford pickup I have had. Its just solid, but I did go to a 350 instead of a 250. I think it rides better than my "07" f-250 did.
