I have an early '99 with the smaller injectors and turbo and the Edge Evolution work really well on my truck. I currently have an F5 chip on order from DP-Tuner that will replace the Evolution tune as a buddy of my bought my tuner. I mostly used the 80HP setting ans saw an average of a 3MPG increase in fuel economy, but I also do not drive my truck hard either. The 100HP setting is really nice, but the EGT's run kind of hot while towing and I didn't feel like spending 10 minutes to switch the tune everytime I had to tow something so I just left in on 80 all the time.
I'd vote for DP-Tuner :93C_peelo , I love mine. DI tunes were good also, but Jody at DP has done a lot of engine testing and cylinder pressure testing. CP testing was especially important for me because 1, I want this engine to live a very long and happy life and 2, because I have a PMR truck and I won't pull is apart until it's wore out or broke out, not going to just change rods.
I've heard a lot of good thing about Tadd's tunes. I drive a 6.0 with Tadd's programming in it and it works well. Never run his stuff in a 7.3, I'm sure it's good, but I'd be hard pressed to change my F5 from Jody.
I have a chip from Tony Wildman at totaldieselperformance.com
My tow burns are awesome. Stage 1 injectors, intake and exhaust and it feels like I could pull about anything. Mine is an OBS so I don't even have an intercooler and the EGT is quite manageable. I am getting the peices rounded up for an intercooler instal though, just to get that extra egt drop!
Oh, and the extreme that he has on my chip right now...well lets say it's just a tad bit somky. Maybe the phrase "Rolling Coal" would be more approprieate LOL
