I'm looking at replacing or fixing my 05 F250 crew cab short bed. What's up with the new 6.7L only having 26 gal tank? I could just see having to pull over every 250 miles to fill up while pulling my camper. WTF I like the fact you can get 4 different axle ratios, but open differentials are standard and electric full lock-ups are optional. No limited slips, except on the dually? And no factory rear DVD players? I think the gas tank size on the short bed is a deal breaker.

the tank is smaller because of the addition of the DEF tank - there's been plenty of discussion on this.

and there aren't 4 different ratios - there are only 2 ratios for the SRW trucks; 3.55 and 3.31. SRW trucks can have the lockers, no LSs. Dually's can have the LSs, but not lockers. Dually's also have 2 other ratios that the SRWs don't.

don't know why the small tank would be a deal-breaker when you can put a 50 gal tank in for $800 or better.

If the fuel tank is your big concern, just put the 50 gallon Titan replacement in. That is what I did and it was worth every penny!!!

I had an ugly experience towing my TT across New Mex in gail force winds. Admittedly, while in the wind, I was towing at 70 (my choice). My fuel mileage went to 4.5 to 6.5 while in the wind. I was watching for truck stops every 100 miles!

On the plus side, the beast has soooooo much power, I swear that I could pull my house off of the foundation!

Just wish the factory would have given me at least a 32 gal tank if for no other reason than piece of mind while towing.

Here. They have them for long beds now as well.

Hey Ford! Are you listining???

My first trip loaded with a 3000# camper, all my crap and a 3500# Jeep in tow, starting with 750 miles on the truck, I averaged 10.3 MPG, hand calculated, for 1100 miles over a variety flats, hills and speeds. So the 26 gallon tank may get you about 200 miles with a small reserve. To fix that problem, I opted for the metal Transfer Flow 50 gallon tank ($800) vs. almost $1500 for the plastic Titan tank. Advantages to both, but the cost difference swayed me. Now I can look forward to $200 fill-ups here in the Socialist Republic of Californicateya. Hey Ford, are you listening??? Other than that, well, this truck is just awesome!, Yeah, like a good woman, it's expensive, but damn well worth it!

Problem is, 26 gallon for a vehicle that size is just too small. Even after allowing room for the DEF that do take up room.

What they should have done is to make an optional tank for at least 35 gallons.

That may mean relocating the DEF to another side --- which is more $$$ engineering and tooling.

No need to move my DEF tank with the 50 gallon Titan tank installed in stock location.

2011 low capacity fuel tank

I agree they should have the 30 or gallon tank as a minimum but the truth of the matter is they simply don't. For my particular (small distance) hauling the additional capacity was not a show stopper especially since everything other aspect was positive. As an option they should at least have offered a second auxiliary tank doubling the capacity. No doubt about they are also keeping the weight down by limiting the capacity. At 6lbs/gal it saved them it doesn't take much to add another 50 -75 lbs. The bad part is when hauling a load you are going to be stopping around 200 miles and it would definately benefit the longer distance runners to add the additional fuel capacity.

It does seem like Ford engineering always stops a little short when it comes to important options and would benefit greatly if they would listen to the customer base beforehand.

Where is the 50 gal Titan tank installed as opposed to the transfer flow tank?
