My 1995 PSD turbocharger failed after less than 500 miles.
I did not purchase or install it.
I don't know who rebuilt it.
So there is no warranty .... :(

Looking around, I found a stock turbo assembly for what seems
to be a reasonable price and ordered it:

94-97 7.3L Factory Reman Exchange Turbo W/ Pedestal
$649.99 Free Shipping Special
Part # 466163-9014

It will be here tomorrow ......

Today I plan on installing an oil pressure gauge.

The instrument cluster oil pressure gauge is dead so I suspect
the wire is loose from the sending unit.

I have to locate the sending unit and install a gauge.

I want to know what the actual oil pressure is.

I did an oil & filter change with Rotella 15/40 and a
Motorcraft oil filter as soon as I got the truck.

The truck ran 300 miles after I first bought it with no issues.

Then the turbo shaft cut loose.

I have found several links on changing a 95 PSD turbo assembly,
the best archived single link so far seems to be from dieselman:

Has anyone done their own turbo and pedestal replacement ?

Any firsthand suggestions ?

Thanks !

Great experience

I received my Garrett remanufactured turbo assembly today:

I highly recommend Thoroughbred Diesel .... :bravo

I dealt with Wes

Ordered before 3 p.m. on Tuesday

Free shipping is included with order, so it shipped free to
their location from the warehouse overnight

Wes included a RGA UPS sticker for the turbo core
in the box and shipped it UPS Overnight Air to me for
just $40.00

It arrived this morning in West Virginia before 10 a.m.

They offer a turbo wheel upgrade similar to the Wicked Wheel
which you have to install for only $152.00

Weather is bad today & tomorrow - I will install this on Saturday

Installed

Installed ....

Took about a day to complete

Left the exhaust connection off the turbo outlet to check
the exhaust back pressure valve, it did not open after engine warmed
up so I unplugged the connection

I tried to remove the cat to break out the material inside,
but no luck, will have to have an exhaust shop do it by heating
it with a torch

All in all I am very happy with my turbo purchase

I plan on getting the turbo wheel upgrade kit later
