hey there all i am new to this forum. i just got bit by the black smoke bug. i just picked up my first diesel and from being around my girlfriends dad who owns a 01 24v wearing a set of twins and a huge list of other mods. i decided to go with a dodge.

i got a good deal on a nice runner for $3500. she has been run ALOT. with just over 277k on the clock she is running GREAT no blow by no smoke underneath. where do i start with getting her ready to make say 350 horse and be a driver. i need the truck to be able to pull another car as i go rescue cars from fields. what should i check/do to start.

well a set of gauges. boost,pyro are a must might go with say trans temp or fuel psi. KDP! get that tabbed. if ya dont know what it is theres LOTS of fourms and how to's about it. next, ya need more air im happy with the BHAF, cut or slide ur fuel plate most people like the 10 plate becuse its a smooth powerband adjust ur afc spring and fine tune it. some good timing wouldnt hurt. boost elbow or diff turbo, exhaust im content with the striaght pipe for now. if its a stick 3K gsk kit auto 4K gsk kit(if u get the 4K u have to get HD springs for the exhaust and intake), a set of good DV's, injectors.....the list goes on and on but the short version gauges,KDP,air filter, fuel plate adjustments, afc,3 or 4K gsk, exhaust,boost elbow,timing,DV's, injectors.......and that would be a good start

You're going to have to address the drive train pretty quickly once you start modding, especially if you want to be in that 350hp range. If its a manual get a clutch, if its an auto probably just best to buy a completely built transmission.

I'd start with the KDP, Gauges, exhaust, intake, and then play with the pump a little. What year is it?

it does have a 5spd. and that was one of the first things i was going to do put around a 700ftlb clutch in it. She is a 95 club cab long bed. after i do the kdp and gauges i was gonna do injectors. then air and exhaust. could someone explain what the BHAF airfilter is?

BHAF = Big Honking Air Filter Its a 10"diameter by 11" long air filter probably intended for a meduim to heavy duty truck. But the filter outlet is a perfect (as I found out almost to big) 4" and connects directly to our stock intake elbow, replacing the stock box setup for more flow from a cheap none oiled:)Thumbup:) filter.

why are u goin to do injectors with out more air......less air=less power becuse the ratio of fuel to air is incorrect.....might get an *** load of smoke but thats it. BHAF is only $50-60 bucks and like DualK20's said it just replaces the stock airbox and u dont need a fancy dancy 400 dollar cold air intake right now.....and please do ur self the favor.....and remove that damn silencer ring out of the turbo

thanks mock12v. that makes more sense to me too but someone around here said that he would just put in injectors. will removing that silencer ring make the turbo louder? or add performance? or BOTh.

I was thinking of getting a new intake since I just slid my fuel plate foreward. Is the BHAF exposed or in a box like the factory? I run a lot in a dusty area and heard that if its an exposed air cleaner, it clogs up really fast. Also, about how much more HP am I making with only the stock plate slid foreward? How much would the intake add? I have a 4" Flow-Pro exhaust and muffler, so backpressure isn't an issue. Thanks.

Its open. I highly recommend a pre-filter for it though, it should double, in your case maybe triple the filters life. Here are some pictures of mine
