I am intrested in a programer, what I have is a welding truck that weighs 8870 lbs my fuel mileage is about 14.5 to 15.5. I Have 213K own 2001 dully and just ordered 40 hp bosch injectors was told this would be a good start.I have been thinking about the Edge juice or Power edge EZ. Edge juice because gauge monitor, is this a wise choice?
Your input would be greatly appreciated

Thanks JL Welding

Is it a stick or an auto? If you run a fueling box with a truck that heavy you will need to upgrade your clutch or auto trans to keep it from burning up, especially with the injectors. What are you looking to get out of the truck? If you are looking for just a mild gain and to stay reliable without having to worry about replacing or upgrading other parts, I would stick to the edge EZ and the injectors, and get yourself some analog gauges. If you do go with the juice w/Attitude don't tap the fuel wire to the VP until you are ready to think about replacing the clutch or trans, and upgrading your fuel system as well. If you don't tap that pump wire, it is the same as having the edge ez.

I agree with what Sean said, but if power isn't a concern I'd just put a Edge Mileage Max, save yourself time and money!

Good call, you'll still love the EZ and RV's combo. I run my box with the fueling turned down all the time, so Im essentially running the same set up. Its nice, its more responsive than stock, gets better mileage, and can be driven without any smoke.

Just about any box (Edge, quadzilla, etc.) or programmer (Smarty) with good timing advancement will net some good results... Like myself I'm using a Edge Comp on 4x4 and get excellent MPG numbers by just slowing down and being smart with the throttle... Using cruise control as much as I can... I use a rule of thumb... "Keep your pyro under 600*F and boost under 5 PSI and 20+ MPGs will come!" As you see in my sig that what I got my last trip to Postfalls, ID and back home!

I would love to keep my egt's below 600 but going home it's all up hill.. other than that it's not too hard. seen 19.5 in mine but thats an auto and I am not easy on the pedal

Same here... I'm at 2,800 ft and Riggins, ID is a 1,800 ft. So going to town I get about 30-32 MPG but on the way home I'm getting about 14-16 MPG.

So on the way to town my pyro is about 500*F @ 55 MPH and way home its about 700*F @ 55 MPH.

Now if I jump up the speed to 65 MPH I do about the same going to town but coming home... It really drops down to 10-12 MPG climb that long grade.

So just slowing down a bit helps...

I basically live in a long river canyon... The lowest point is 1,200 ft at Whitebird, ID and heading south 63 miles you get to the top at 4,200 feet in New Meadows, ID so its a constant battle for me to scrape up every little MPG I can around home...

So between the Edge Mileage box and the Quadzilla, which one would be the better choice? I've got a stock auto and I'm easy on the pedal but I don't want to give it some a blow my tranny. Which box would be better between these two? Sorry to hijack the thread but it seemed like he got what he wanted out of it.
