I tried to advance my timing the other day aqnd I think I went backwards, because now I have white smoke at 1800 to 2400 rpms. This was the first truck I did so I am pretty sure this is my problem on this one. Now for my question, I did a lot of work on another 96, studs, orings, 4k gsk, valve springs, and Mikey's dvs . I also advanced the timing to 15 degrees. Now this truck has the same smoke problem. It also revs up kind of rough but smooths out at upper rpms, it just smokes constantly. Does this sound like a timing issue as well. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to cover everything.

Sometimes you may need to pull the pump off, and rough up the snout with some sand paper. Putting a new split ring washer on will help too.

Fixed it. The timing had slipped to around 6.5 to 7 degrees. I advanced it 16 and all is well.
