Well I sopped at a used car dealership tonight and found a 2002 ext cab F350 XLT 7.3 diesel w/ only 58000 miles. Its two towned with black w/ gray bottom. The truck has straight body lines, no dents, though the black paint is worn with lots of swirles. The undercarriage has surface rust on the axles and springs. The interior has minor blemsihed and worn spots of the seats. Talked with the dealer, they just closed up, and he said he thought the truck was $26000. I looked up Kbb and dealer price for good condition is 24000 and private party is 21000. This dealership is known to be pricy but they sell good stuff. This truck seemed to be an exception for paint quality. What do you guys think?
I'm not really in the market but wanted to get one in a few years possibly. This spring I was thinking of getting rid of my truck for an 06 diesel dodge or ford. Maybe the 7.3 would be a good daily driver. I could swap over all my stuff I have now onto it.
If the "swirls" are what some call "cobb webbing", tiny scratches in the paint,
I had the same thing with my black truck. I bought a DA polisher and some polish from Meguiars and it took care of it. Meg's sell polishes in different "grits". I tried the 80 first, and it helped, then went to the 83 and it took out the swirls almost completely. Afterwards, I used their best wax with the DA and the truck looks great.
Once you do that, don't ever use the car wash brush on it again and buy a micro fiber drying towel.
$26k does sound high, but 7.3's are going for top dollar, and it depends on where you are. (Where are you?) If you're "not in the market" I would be patient. I stumbled across mine the day it was traded and ended up getting it for $18 with perfect paint, super clean interior and no rust. But it was about the 50th truck I had looked at...
Guy across from me has one that doesn't know what he will do yet. 50 some odd miles and in great shape!!! 2wheel drive. He kind of wants something new but can't decide. 2 tone paint and man this thing is clean. Keep loking you can do better. I bet this guy wouldn't ask this much for his. It does have to do with where you are. Find something where the market is not friendly to values but is good for clean vehicles. Travel is not that bad to get what you want.
that don't count. and different color orange. and theres none of those where im at. mine came from the 04 harley davidson f250 trucks
