GMC Vandura 1996

Hi, I'm looking for a bus. I'd liked to convert it in a camper.
I just found a GMC Vandura 1996 6,5 liters diesel. The last owner did an inspection, and here in Canada, for a high-weight vehicule, the inspection is very strict. After few repairs (brakes,suspension, flashers), everything is perfect. The price asked is 3000$.
Do someone knows the problem on this type of engine?
Do you think it's a good deal?
And last question, do someone have an idea of the fuel-consumption?

the lift pumps fail, the PMD's can fail, injectors sometimes go bad. i think most of all the 6.5 is prone to overheating.

I had a 6.5, and the only problem i had out of it was a ruptured fuel line, but that was my own fault. They are good lil engines, not very powerful but get the job done. As to fuel economy like you asked, I'm not sure on buses, but in my '95 2500 4x4 i'd get 17-19 around town if i drove it right and 14-16 if i was gettin on it and blowin smoke all over the place.
