Not really any specialty 4BT shops, because so many parts are shared between that and a 6BT. The highest hp one I saw in a magazine was from PDR(used to be Piers Diesel Research). The marine versions were actually rated up to 250hp. You can get 150 pretty easily with just adjustments to the pump. The 3200rpm gov spring is a worthwile $20 expense either way.

 

A friend of mine is putting a 4BT in his Land Cruiser, and it's getting a few power mods. The parts we put together: HY35 turbo from a Dodge, POD injectors or similar, gov spring, old mokey fuel pin, and adjust the fuel screw accordingly(I may be missing something). Shooting for 200hp, and that's a combo that a few guys on other sites have used.

 

That's what I'm having done to my 4bt as well. I am adding water injection to it as well to help keep her cool and crank the pump up a bit more.

 

scheid diesel and pure diesel power has some performace up grades for a 4bt, but dont know if they have cames or not, like stated stated above the 4bt and its big brother the 6bt share alot of parts so there are aot of pump up grades and valve springs and stuff like that u can get.

 

What are the differences between the marine and highway/fleet motors? Head and cam?

 

Sur les moteurs de série B s'interallient tous sont les mêmes à côté de peu de parties farfelues qu'il montrera, mais pour l'ennui et caressera pour tant 4 et 6 moteur de cylindres ils sont les mêmes.
Comme loin pour la partie l'échange commun 80 % d'entre eux sont l'échange entre 3,4 et 6 série de cylindre {sont ouais là 3 cylindre verison là-bas, mais non la très large diffusion}

Le plus grand diffrence est le taux de carburant entre l'utilisation de route et l'utilisation marine et le fusilier marin utilise de l'eau pour aérer l'interrefroidisseur {il sera l'eau de veste ou l'interrefroidisseur d'eau de mer verison selon l'évaluation.}

Ouais la 3.9 série B peut capable de faire beaucoup comme 250 HP une fois que vous surmontez ce numéro vous aurez la question de diffrent abordera cela deviendra "la course" useage j'ai entendu dire qu'il peut faire beaucoup comme 800 HP {que la partie je ne suis pas confirme encore mais il peut être fait}

On the B series motors interally all are the same beside few oddball parts it will show up but for bore and stroke for both 4 and 6 cylinders engine they are the same.
As far for part common interchange 80% of them are interchange between 3,4, and 6 cylinder series { yeah there is 3 cylinder verison out there but not very wide spread }

The biggest diffrence is fuel rate between highway use and marine use and marine use water to air intercooler { it will be either jacket water or sea water intercooler verison depending on the rating.}

Yeah the 3.9 B series can able make much as 250 HP once you get over that number you will have diffrent issue will come up it will become " race " useage I heard it can make much as 800 HP { that part I am not confirm yet but it can be done }

power rating and maybe coolant plumbing for like a jwac. depending on the fuel pump you get determines the power potential. you cacn rotary ve style pumps or inline bosch pumps. the 4bt and 6bt are identical bore and stroke and share a majority of part numbers. depending on the pump any diesel shop can get you the parts you need.

 

Also... the 4BT can have different injection pumps as well... an axial displacement or an inline pump. Either way most 6BT hot rod parts are interchangeable, you'll just have a couple spares in some casses.
