Cat, if you know a dealer that by chance doesn't care about the part numbers on returned parts you can get a reman for around $900-1000, new will be a little over $1600.

Another quick question. Do you have to take the radiator out to get the cam out? I've got to do some work on the radiator, so that's why I was thinking I should do the cam now.

 

Yes, cam has to come out the front.

 

Unless you have a cabover !!!

What are you asking on the 1000hp cam? It might be a bit much for me, but it doesn't hurt to ask a price

 

Isn't there an issue when running the 1000hp cam at idle or something along those lines?

 

Seems like it depends on the truck in mine a converted bxs with stock inj. there was no idle quality issues I've head of them and kinda expected it but it was smooth I thought the 1000 cam was causing high egts so swapped for the 800 cam as a last resort and there was no diff in the way the truck ran or egt level.

 

I have a 1000+ hp cam on my 1LW and it idle as smooth as ever, I have a flutter that was there before the cam, but other than that everything is fine, it revs even smoother then ever before, It does have the original injectors #57, I was thinking on going to 58 but don't want to buy a bigger turbo and also don't want any more smoke.
