You decide who rules!! Who has the most potential for power,reliability and other etc......What are cost factors....... include any war stories about these monsters:knight:knight:knight:knight
The CV = HP"Power rating can run anywhere from 450 CV all the way up to 950 CV { few can hit over 1000 CV but limited class"
What do you mean by CV ???
A 1693 Cat is the pre 3406 six cylinder, without looking it up I think the displacement is about the same as 3406 , overhead cam precombustion ,jacket water aftercooled about the same turbo as a 92U precombustion 3406 , they were usually 375 or 425 HP and responded well to hotrodding in their day they were a force to be reconned with .I have read 12 pages of this post in know what a 3408 is, I do not know what a KT or KTA is, and I am not to sure what a 1693 is, if some one could fill me in that would great.
I like the debate
and the stories

A little more on the KT its down fall was seperate cylinder heads and its massive weight as well as more torque than the drive trains of the day could handle
Hey I also noticed we stayed on topic on this one
LOL, you sure you took the right medicine today?Hey, a 109R-A1 Vtwin has 4.5 bore two cylinder gas bike motor. The biggest production piston on highway gas in the US todayoh look, a bunny rabbit :happydance
oke (so could not resist that ya know
)

Your right, it will cost you probably around $20k more than the engine was originally supposed to cost in lawyer fees just trying to get what you were promised. Then he will change the business name AGAIN and you'll still never get anything.Great Lakes Diesel Engines in New York are putting out 1,000hp 3408 twin turbocharged engines for highway & competition...they don't come cheap...
I understand what your saying but those are two bad examples. Neither applications require high torque which is why companies like EMD never really gives a torque rating on their engines, only HP.Boy did the trash talk come out in this thread. As for V engines not having torque, that is a misnomer. It may be true in some of the configurations used in trucks but is not a rule. Locomotives have V engines and so do a lot of ships. Can't tell me they don't make huge torque.
True. Cylinder configuration has nothing to do with torque. It's more about bore/stroke ratio. If displacement and bore stroke ratio is same, 8 cylinder engine can have more valve area than 6 cylinder what means it can make MORE torque AND hp. Torque and hp are always related like everyone should already know...Boy did the trash talk come out in this thread. As for V engines not having torque, that is a misnomer. Donnez-moi juste un couple de jours j'obtiendrai les figures de toqure que je sais que j'ai la liste quelque part, mais dois le déterrer.I understand what your saying but those are two bad examples. If you're going after this guy with a CAT, you better pack a lunch....I wanna see the day you turn that thing into a sled puller and go after Dave Greek and all them guys to see what a hot caterpillar will do against them guys.
I know I have seen barnetts truck give them a run for their money on the right track, but I think your truck would surprise them. I know the KT we pull with is the best running mechanical truck we pull with, but the guy with the very hot E model makes us look stupid.
Bunny rabbit squashed by a chev truck with 502,. 4.466 bore,.(damn close to 4.5,.Hey, a 109R-A1 Vtwin has 4.5 bore two cylinder gas bike motor. The biggest production piston on highway gas in the US todayoh look, a bunny rabbit :happydance

I think we need some links to videos, and some engine pix! That almost looks too nice to be getting all dirty on a track, and not making money on the road pulling the heaviest loads around.If you're going after this guy with a CAT, you better pack a lunch....
I agree completely, after seeing the luck both Barnett and cliff lick have had trying to do so, I believe that the only feasable way to try and compete is with a very built 3406E/C15-16. It seems to me that the mechanical cats are too tempermental at high HP levels.If you're going after this guy with a CAT, you better pack a lunch....
